This comes as a bit of a refreshing news considering the rising cost of the TTC: the new subway train is fucking sexy. The improvements that have been promised forever ago have largely been unseen since the price jumps. To be honest there have been days where I’d get on a subway car and immediately step off as the scent of dirty, mouldy rags from the ventilation would shoot quite rudely into my nose.
I love public transportation but when prices do not typically level with the service provided - there is a problem, but sometimes it’s not even bad: it’s just plain intrusive. By comparison - the Montreal subway system is larger and busier, somehow cleaner - yet the price of the monthly pass is still just shy of $75. Even the impossible New York (I love you) monthly metrocard is a steal at $104. I pay $121 and I often roll my eyes when I don’t need to stay conscious from breathing in toxic sour smelling mould from the train ventilation. Just sayin’.
So at the moment, I’m waiting at Bathurst and Steeles for a southbound Bathurst bus. Tell me how eleven Steeles West buses pass going eastbound to Finch Stn., seven of them in a row at one point, and ZERO Bathurst buses. And I’ve been waiting over 20 minutes… And counting. D: Even the YRT 88 bus is more frequent. Since when is YRT more frequent than TTC and since when is 60 more frequent than 7? 60 is usually a nightmare to travel on, and now that I’m not travelling on it, 60 buses just keep coming and going like no tomorrow.
